HOW TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT FLOOR ADHESIVE?
Selecting the correct floor adhesive is essential for ensuring a secure, long-lasting installation. Different floor coverings, such as carpet, vinyl, rubber, linoleum, and luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) require specific adhesives. Options include multi-purpose adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, high-temperature adhesives, tape systems and contact adhesives. The choice depends on the flooring type and installation area. Proper notch size and sufficient adhesive transfer are also crucial for a strong bond.
Each flooring type has unique characteristics, requiring dedicated adhesives. Carpet adhesives like UZIN UZ 54 provide a quick initial grab. Rubber floors need wet-bed adhesives like UZIN KE 66, which is fibre-reinforced for extra strength. Homogeneous and heterogeneous vinyl or lino use pressure-sensitive adhesives like UZIN KE 2000 S, offering extended working time. For LVT, wet-bed adhesives such as UZIN KE 49 HT allow for fast, stable installation. Multi-purpose adhesives, such as UZIN KE 2428 NEW, provide flexibility for mixed flooring projects but may have thickness limitations.
High-temperature adhesives like UZIN KE 66 are ideal for areas exposed to solar gain. For extreme conditions, two-component adhesives like UZIN KR 430 offer durability in heavy-duty and wet areas. Alternatively, single-component heavy-duty adhesives like UZIN KE 68 resist high temperatures and moisture, making them ideal for commercial settings.
Safety is also important. Solvent-free adhesives and skirting tapes, such as UZIN U-Tack, offer safer alternatives to solvent-based products, eliminating harmful fumes and fire hazards. Sustainability is another key factor, with EC1 Plus®- certified adhesives like UZIN KE 2000 S ensuring low emissions and excellent indoor air quality.
